There is a great variety of things to do and see locally. Within easy reach are such places of interest as: Durham City, Beamish Museum, Causey Arch, Tanfield Railway, Gibside Chapel and the Roman Wall.
Travel a bit further and visit Teesdale with High Force, the exquisite Bowes Museum and Barnard Castle an historic market town with many antique shops to explore.
Try Hamsterley Forest for cycling, woodland walks and nature trails. Travel further to the breathtaking views of the Northumbrian coast with its historic castles Alnwick, Bamburgh (shown), Dunstanburgh and Holy Island. Take a trip around the Farnes.
Visit the newly created gardens at Alnwick and take in the beautiful National Trust properties at Cragside and Wallington.
For shopping try The Metro Centre. Theatres, Music and Cinema are available in Durham, Newcastle or Hexham.
